@noor - NOOR نور | Edited — Thoughts on Banana Republic Hijab Collection: For all the brands who are following this — when you want to cater to a new community, invest in diverse consultants from across the community, seek multiple opinions from different perspectives to mitigate your risk and provide the best possible product or service for the entire community you are looking to serve, from start to finish.

So well said noor!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
@dlinastyles
👏🏼👏🏼love your feed and take on this. although i’m not a hijabi 🧕 but a lot of the women in my family are. and your absolutely right, this process should be done with high consideration and thought so to make the the hijabi community comfortable and not just a way for banana republic and any other brand to make money while seeming to be going into cultural appropriation!!
@honeypants_
👏❤️😍 we love a good multicultural brand, sis!
@polydeucesii
I can't even hear banana republic without looking at my colombia stickered chiquita bananas and getting mad. they can't swing a paid partnership? throw some respek on it @gap
@jazz.pear
Why does this give me pride marketing vibes? i’m all for including it in clothing stores and i’m glad it’s getting attention, but i fear them making a market out of it :,)

@saverspender @adrienne.a.gram - food for thought. completely agree with inclusion vs diversity. they are not the same.
@radhya10
It’s a pitty that banana republic (and gap) closed their shops in my country (indonesia) which probably have the biggest hijab market ☝🏼

@rihsey thought u might find this interesting!!!
@zariadventure
👏thank you sis👏
@lb013
Very good conversation and appreciate your knowledge on the subject. when i first heard about this i thought “great” but as you point out much more work is needed. but this is a steps towards the right direction. well said noor!
@muslimwomenmake
And we also need to question not just big brands but local hijab brands on sustainability. according to the global slavery index 2018 report, 40 million people today live enslaved. fashion is the second top contributor. and it’s happening in muslim populated areas. i think it’s time as muslims we demand more or question our over consumption and capitalist business practices.
@itsautumnslife
I can't believe big brands are still trying to come at people with the we have no budget nonsense. they have a budget, they just aren't valuing you or are betting you don't value yourself enough. 👀
@jidanab
Great. different perspective. i was happy br was promoting a line of inclusion for muslim women. but after understanding this process you shed new light that the right due diligence is lacking and that reflects the company’s perception of how important this launch. any organization would have taken many more steps before launching but we aren’t vocal enough as a society to call of our like you did. well done
@flantastic
Leading with grace again. they will get paid and the product will make them money no matter who they include. that’s so disrespectful, you built your own a audience and they want it for free.
@fatimagidado_
Beautifully written, we need to keep having these conversations to make an impact💗
@ashelynne
This is so true. my favorite type of scarf sure isn’t my best friend’s favorite type of scarf! but if i was that one consultant i would’ve pushed for jersey hijabs all the wayyy. i’m so glad you stood up in this way. thanks girllll for fighting that good fight ❤️
