I'm proud to be chinese 🇭🇰 everyone should be proud of their ethnicity and celebrate their cultures, but it doesn't mean you hate on others. no race is superior to another (and humans aren't better than other species)...
i went to an international school, lived in international cities all my life. i've got a global mix of friends and wouldn't want it any other way. i've only experienced a racist comment once before these crazy times when some guy made a lewd remark. i almost pushed him down the stairs, but then thought it best to be the bigger person and ignore it (he was leaving anyway) in light of covid-19, i've experienced some underlying resentment, and today got a random comment on one of my posts from someone in russia, who obviously has a chip on her shoulder and needed a place to direct her anger. big thanks to all the advice my friends have given me today on this subject on how to respond, and i know it's a waste of my energy and time to even give it a second thought, but... obviously i can't stop thinking about it, and i'll get to responding. i'm def not taking it personally, but racism needs to be addressed.
while coronavirus first broke out in china, that does not mean it is a "chinese virus" nor does it mean that every single asian is to blame. we're all suffering as a result of this global lockdown, but we're going to make the most of it, because we have to, and because it's better to think positively.
also, not all chinese people eat bats. i don't think i've ever come across one on a menu, nor would i even consider eating it (or any meat for that matter) there are plenty of unpalatable things that people eat all over the globe, but that's another discussion altogether...
if there's anyone to blame for the mess we're in today, it's our leaders, who didn't take precautions when there was plenty of time to do so. we're a globally connected society so how could we have been so oblivious and unprepared? 🤬
my daughter actually wrote something that she wanted to respond to the comment, which i am so proud of. it's not fueled by hate, but logical. my platform is not a place for hate, but i felt it needed to be addressed. much love, cx ❤️
