a recent discussion in my mastermind group reminded me that we all choose what to share online and what to keep private. and what we choose to put online obviously shapes how people view us, what they think of us, whether or not they like us, and whether or not they think we're "real". someone in the group said "i want to be like you... clearly from what you post online, you've got it all figured out." i certainly don't feel that way about myself, but i was flattered she would think so. then i started to wonder...am i being authentic online? is sharing all the good and positive, keeping the negative and doubts to myself, giving off the right impression? or am i lying to my followers?
i've decided i'm being as authentic as i can in what i share online. some of my more personal stuff is only shared in my email newsletter, not here.
in the end, i've decided to be flattered by the comment and to try to remember what i see of other people online is only one side of them. when you start looking at people this way, everything changes.
do you share the good, the bad and the ugly online? or do you keep the bad private? how do you decide what to share and what to keep private? i'd love to discuss below. . . .
