Innocent man regains freedom after spending 2 years in prison for helping a neighbor who overdosed on drugs to the hospital .
.
.
A man identified as Chidiebere Onwumere has regained his freedom, 2 years after being wrongly imprisoned for causing the death of Uzochi Chinyere, a neighbor he rushed to the hospital, following a drug overdose in Abia State.
.
Speaking with with AFN, on Tuesday, he recounted how it happened saying, “I got home that day, around 6pm, only to see my neighbour lying helpless and I decided to assist her to the hospital with the help of other neighbors. A pastor who resides within the neighborhood, took us with his car to a nearby hospital called Shiloh hospital, where the doctor asked us to deposit N5000 to conduct a test that would determine exactly what was wrong with her. .
I and some other neighbours contributed the money. When the result came out, the doctor told us that she was on substance overdose and was knocked out by the illegal substance. He assured us that she would be well again.
.
.
However, the next morning, Mr Promise, the deceased’s elder brother, arrived the hospital and insisted on taking her away to another hospital against the doctor’s advice. After a few days, he came back to our compound and took me to World Bank police station, Aba, where he handed me over to the police, claiming that I beat his sister to death.
Despite pleas that my hands were clean and that there was a doctor’s report stating that their sister died of substance abuse, Promise insisted and filed a murder charge against me. I was arraigned on suit no. U/520c/2016 and remanded in prison custody since June 2016. It was one Barrister Jerry Uzosike that God used to vindicate and bring me out of prison.” Follow Base Gist for more information in everyday life

Nigerian fearless female pastor, prophetess Nonnie Roberson has announced that on the 28-29 of Sept., 2018, Lagos will witness the largest gathering of women from all over the world.

Announcing the 2018 edition of the Sisterhood Global event, the pastor of the New Wine Ministry and founder of Sisterhood Global said, God chose Lagos to ensure massive participation of women.

Speaking on what will happen at the gathering, Nonnie said, ” Those who will attend will witness breakthrough. The will be set free from captivity. They will be blessed with the fruit of the womb. I see financial breakthrough and others. ” As we gather women from across the continent, it surpasses every other prayer. We expect a direct contact with God at the event,” she said.

According to Nonnie, it’s clear that on that day, women in ministry will after a special session have their breakthrough. “After the event, there shall be an expression,” she said.

She said the event will ignite their relationship with God, just as there will be an outpouring. “Women are known to be prayer warriors. At the event, we will ignite the warrior in them and they will finish the battle. “I believe that the gathering shall mark the end of an era of affliction and prosperous future for all women who will jump on this opportunity,” Nonnie said.

First storey building in Nigeria records drop in visitors “In the first six months of 2017, about 7,433 people visited the monument compared to 5,100 visitors and tourists that visited in the first six months of this year. “The major factors that discourage the visitors from coming is bad road and the bad economic situation of the country. “The road that leads to Badagry is not motorable; motorists and passengers spend between four and five hours in gridlocks while coming to the town,” he said.

Hodonu said that the building continued attracting more tourists because of proper maintenance and the ability to preserve its originality. “We are certain that the statistics will increase in the other half of the year due to the historic nature of the site and the willingness of people to always visit,” he said.

Aisha Reveals How Osinbajo Exposed Buhari ‘As Being Responsible’ For SARS Brutality

Aisha Yesufu, co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, advocacy group, has reacted to the directive by the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo ordering the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to overhaul the management and activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) with immediate effect.

Yesufu said the directive by Osinbajo indicates that President Muhammadu Buhari was responsible for the brutality of SARS operatives.

In a series of tweets, the activist called on the Acting President to embark on more reforms.

She wrote: “Did you ever say that it’s not President Buhari’s fault of SARS brutality? “Did you ever say there is IGP and it’s not for PMB to be held responsible?

Then I hope by the action of Acting President demanding overhaul of SARS you understand why PMB was held responsible “Thank God Professor Yemi Osinbajo @ProfOsinbajo has realised that being Acting President is not about going round and giving motivational speeches and reminding us of what the problems are but by being Presidential and taking decisive measures. Why politicians are not worth dying for!

Who would have thought that Senator Musiliu Obanikoro would leave the PDP for the APC? Who would have thought that Segun Oni and Dr. Kayode Fayemi would sheathe their political swords and become members of the same political family – the APC? The former having been elected Ekiti State Governor under the PDP. Brig.-Gen. Olagunsoye Oyinlola (retd.) was the Osun State Governor under the PDP; he later defected to the APC and is now a chieftain of the ADC and CUPP. Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso was a Kano State governor under the PDP but the APC senator recently retraced his steps back to the PDP after some years. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has twice left the PDP to foray into the Action Congress of Nigeria in 2007 and the APC in 2014. He later went back to the PDP in December 2017. Former Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State was in the Alliance for Democracy, the PDP and later contested and won governorship election under the Labour Party. He later defected to the PDP and is now back to the LP. Incumbent Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal was in the PDP when he was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2011, but he defected to the APC in 2015 and just recently went back to the PDP.

SERAP sues NYSC boss over Adeosun’s exemption certificate

The group is praying the court to compel the NYSC to immediately supply it with “specific documents and information on Mrs. Kemi Adeosun’s application for the National Youth Service Corps’ Exemption Certificate and to publish widely, including on a dedicated and on the NYSC website, any such information.” The suit followed allegation that Adeosun, who studied abroad, failed to observe the mandatory one-year national youth service and resorted to forging an NYSC Exemption Certificate to secure her current job and previous ones upon returning to Nigeria.

SERAP had last week given the NYSC a seven-day ultimatum to clear the air on the allegation, which had been in the public domain for about a month without a word from the minister herself. #serap #kemiadeosun #buhari #saveourdemocracy #nigeria

THE Economist Intelligence Unit, EIU, has ranked Lagos State as the third worst city to live in among 140 cities worldwide.

Lagos was ranked 138th of the 140 countries ranked by the EIU in its 2018 report.

With a relatively low score of 38.5 percent, the city was just a little above Syria’s war-torn capital, Damascus, and Bangladesh’s Dhaka.

Both cities are hotbeds of violence, destruction and war.
