“gather ye rosebuds while you may,
old time is still a-flying,
and this same flower, that smiles to-today,
tomorrow will be dying.”
since winter just doesn’t seem to let go, i know that i will enjoy the spring blooms so much more when they finally arrive. in the meantime i will enjoy my beautiful floral-covered vintage books for spring inspiration. this book, familar quotations, contains excerpts from poems throughout history that have become commonplace in our language. there are some phrases in here that i didn’t even realize came from poems! this is a fascinating little piece of history.
