Cti foods of owingsville, kentucky, is recalling about 29,028 pounds of jimmy dean heat 'n serve original sausage links made with pork & turkey after the food maker received five complaints from consumers, according to the u.s. department of agriculture’s food safety and inspection service (fsis). cti notified the agency monday that consumers told the company they had found small, string-like fragments of metal in the product, cti says in an update on the jimmy dean website. the privately-owned company is recalling the “small amount” of sausage links “out of an abundance of caution,” cti said in the update.
the frozen, ready-to-eat sausage links were produced and packaged on aug. 4, 2018. the 23.4-oz. pouches had a use-by date of jan. 31, 2019.
on the back of the package, the product also has a case code of a6382168 and the establishment number “est. 19085."
