Why use a plant-based mineral supplement?
most of the mineral formulations available today usually contain less than 15 minerals. this is because the formulations are derived from the earth’s ancient sea beds or from clay, shale, rocks or soil. these minerals are called metallic hydrophobic minerals. these “elemental” minerals are extremely difficult to digest and many nutritional experts believe that less than 5% to 8% of metallic-based elemental minerals can actually be assimilated into the body. hydrochloric acid in the stomach just isn’t strong enough to dissolve these minerals during the short 15-21 hour digestive cycle.
that means if you take a 250 milligram tablet of these minerals, less than 20 milligrams will actually be available for metabolic activity! this is a waste of almost 92% of the original supplement that is ultimately excreted through the body’s waste system!
on the other hand, plant derived minerals (called hydrophilic) are considered enzymatically active or “living” minerals. they are bio-available to the body because plants have already assimilated and/or digested these minerals and turned them into water soluble minerals which the body can readily use. abso2rb contains only hydrophilic minerals and amino acids. physiologists believe that these plant nutrients can be 100% assimilated by the body!
elemental (metallic) minerals, including those found in salt beds like the great salt lake, possess a natural positive charge which can be confirmed as a zeta potential. plant-based hydrophilic minerals however, possess a natural negative charge and their size and molecular weights are usually much smaller than elemental minerals.
in almost all cases, plant based minerals are bonded to different molecules even though they are described by the same periodical name. it is believed that plant-based minerals behave quite differently in the body and because of their small size, they easily and readily are able to pass through the cell’s permeable membranes.
