I’m dyeing with oak leaves today 🌿 they make a subtle tan colour on fabric, but when we dip the fabric in iron water afterwards, it transforms into a deep grey. it’s all thanks to the magic of the tannins ✨
i’m going to over-dye an old dress and hopefully make it a nice deep grey 🖤
if you’d like to start dyeing with plants, my book botanical colour at your fingertips will help you get started in the simplest way 🌿 the ebook is on my website and the paperback is on amazon.
the dress has wooden buttons, and i’m not sure if to take the buttons off so they stay a pale colour, or leave them on and dye them too! i’m slightly concerned the fabric behind the buttons won’t dye evenly, so i’m leaning towards taking the buttons off and dyeing them separately, then sewing back on. i’m never one to take the simplest route, but i think it will be worth it 👍
do you have a dye p*t on the go at the moment❓ what are you dyeing❓
