- the national centre for the performing arts, china. designed by the french architect paul andreu, the dome is made from titanium-accented glass surrounded by a man-made lake. it is described as looking like an egg floating on water or a water drop. the inside of the dome is spectacular with incredible design. this theatre caused controversy over how modern it was in beijing however it was deemed necessary to have modern architecture like this in an international city of great importance.
