captain america: the first soldier (2011)
this movie tells the origin story of captain america aka steve rogers who wants to do his part and join america's armed forces, but the military rejects him because of his small stature. finally, steve gets his chance when he is accepted into an experimental program that turns him into a supersoldier called captain america. joining forces with bucky barnes, and peggy carter, captain america leads the fight against the nazi-backed hydra organisation.
pros: - chris evans is flawless as his character transitions from skinny, puny steve rogers to tall, muscular strong captain america. the cgi from this is just spectacular. chris delievers a serious yet entertaining portrayal of his character which makes this movie a fantastic introduction to his character into the mcu. - the storyline is gripping and very interesting. - the supporting actors were also great to watch. - plenty of action that looks amazing om blu-ray!
cons: - brief romance moments that were unnecessary and rushed.

Heading back to world war two now, a time when a patriot became a hero. i think this is a highly underrated instalment, probably because it was followed by what is arguably the best film in the franchise.
The film follows the story of tara (gemma arterton), an overworked woman trapped in her life as a housewife and absorbed by a husband she is no longer in love with, mark (dominic cooper). by choosing not to be miserable, tara decides to buy a one-way ticket to paris in the hope of covering herself and reckoning with her life and her future.
the film will arrive in a limited number of american theaters on may 11th.
