Social media in construction
i’ve spent the past few months convincing the construction industry, an industry still excited about ipads and excel spreadsheets, that social media and marketing has a place in building things. more than a simple place, it has the potential to largely solve the industry wide hiring problem that’s only worsening.
i’ll dive into things deeper at a later point, but here are three simple benefits to using social media as a contractor or mining company.
the first - you can hire directly off of instagram and other sites. i’m asked for jobs on all my accounts nearly every day and yet i have contractors telling me they can’t find people willing to work for them. there’s a disconnect...
secondly - it builds brand awareness. through social, you can show tens of thousands of people what you do as a company every day. this not only puts you front and center when it comes to clients, but it also puts you above other companies when it comes to hiring. i’m far more willing to work for a company that i’ve already heard of and seen before.
lastly and most importantly, it gives execs a direct line of communication to the field level. this allows management to keep their employees engaged and inspired like never before. by giving your people in the field a voice and making them feel appreciated, i guarantee turnover will decrease.
