Around the same time the first sternwheelers were churning up the fraser river to yale, british columbia, the dewdney trail was being engineered. completed around 1865 and supposedly spanning 720km’s from hope to rossland. 80% of the trail is sadly now highway 3 but there are still branches of secluded historical trail. where the sound of streams and rivers overpowers the noise of cars on pavement, making your way north until there is no reverberation. i ran about 11 km of the trail pausing to take in the surrounding peaks while quintessentially noticing hoof prints in the mud. the trail is widely used by the back country horseman of bc. .
