I’ve been meaning to check out @watermansarts
for a long time, passing in front of it time and time again on my old commute. i’m happy to report it’s a little nugget nested in an area in west london usually devoid of places to see films independently.
this place is more than a cinema: it’s a community-driven arts centre which showcases more than film, namely theatre or exhibits.
what i like about the place is how homely it feels. the place was quite vacant during my visit but it still showcased ample potential. it has a vast restaurant and bar and some outdoor space adjacent to the river, which is fantastic to have a drink before a screening.
the score reduction comes from the fact that the screening room was absolutely boiling, which might be because it was packed or simply because it wasn’t turned on. and also from the fact that the seat alignment makes it so that if someone sits in front of you, it’ll be hard to see the screen, so i would definitely recommend the front row if you’re on the smaller side.
