I’ve never been the thin girl, the small girl or the petit one. I’ve towered over boys my whole life, weighed more than most around me and have always been the tough girl. I struggled with deep rooted insecurity, bulimia, anorexia and binge eating disorder for A DECADE. This was all going on in my teens and early to mid 20s. I worked jobs, went on mission trips, led worship at church and even went to ministry school all the while being deeply plagued with chaos inside. ⁣
⁣
So what changed? ⁣
⁣
Well....a lot of things happened. I decided I was going to do things DIFFERENT. I decided BOTH my mind and my body needed to be healthy because getting only one in order wasn’t working. I decided I was worth more than living in chaos and lies for the rest of my life. I decided to stop begging God to deliver me and started using the practical tools he has given me and step into deliverance. I decided I wasn’t taking my own “no’s” or excuses anymore. I decided I’d speak to my own health, body, mindset and spirit and make it come into alignment with what I wanted. I decided I wasn’t stopping until peace was reached inside and out. ⁣
⁣
If you hear these words and you know this struggle if you read this and think “that is me.” then my struggle hasn’t been vain. I’m here to tell you there is hope. I am proof and I want to help lead you right out of it and into something totally different.

Having a coach is like having this mega support system for when you’re at your lowest of lows AND your highest of highs.⁣

These past few weeks have been a whirlwind for me mentally.  I’ve been struggling to work through a lot of different emotions & growing pains…⁣
⁣
Today I decided it was time to be fully transparent with my coach.  Time to stop sugar coating & tell her what’s really been going on inside my head.⁣
⁣
Because nodding my head & agreeing with the expectations each week, without disclosing the mental shit behind why I was struggling - was pretty much pointless.⁣
⁣
So today I spent 45 minutes talking through my struggles - being validated and realizing that I’m not alone - and developing a plan of action to move forward.⁣
Essentially, I had a 45 minute therapy session that left me feeling more positive, motivated & prepared than I’ve felt in weeks.⁣
⁣
✨ I was reminded - THIS is why I hire coaches.⁣
Despite the tremendous amount of knowledge, tactics and information I’ve learned over the past 2 years - ⁣
⁣
Having someone there to ⁣
✩ talk through your struggles⁣
✩ listen to what’s truly going on deep down (besides your boyfriend or best friend or mom, who’s probably tired of hearing you vent about the same 5 things over & over and has no idea how to help you…) ⁣
✩ and help you develop a plan of action to move forward…⁣
⁣
✨ THAT is the true value of a coach.⁣
⁣
It’s not just about learning WHAT to do, but breaking through your mental blocks along the way.⁣
⁣
This isn’t only true for business - but also for your fitness, your lifestyle, or your money management….⁣
⁣
An outside prospective, paired with intense knowledge….is PRICELESS 💸⁣
⁣

Tricep pushdowns are one of my go to tricep isolation exercises. There are various attachments you can use including this rope. I prefer the rope when I’m doing higher reps because it really enables you to get a strong contraction in your tricep at the bottom when you spread the rope. This will also emphasize the medial head of the tricep a bit more compared with a bar attachment or if you choose not to spread the rope although any tricep pushdown will still hit both heads. Try holding it for a second for an extra burn.

2020 Fitness Video Streak Day 47: My energy felt good today, so I thought I’d try one of my favorites, Michelle’s “Rockin’ Body Cardio Jam” from 2007. I can’t believe it’s been six years since I last did it! If this wasn’t the first Dozois video in my collection, it was one of the first. I distinctly remember finding it in the bargain DVD bin at a Marshall’s in Vero Beach, FL almost 11 years ago. There was something about the blurb on the back of the case that drew me in— “Join Michelle and her group of women who...are real people like you; juggling work, family obligations and everyday challenges.” I could certainly relate to that! And Michelle’s personal video message track on the DVD led me to contact her, as I could really relate to some of her personal story. Having her encouragement over the years has been such a treasure!
! This is a fun but challenging 50-minute routine that I’ll return to again and again. .

Friday second session was all focused on  quads after the morning beach session.
I usually prefer splitting legs workouts in pushing & pulling sessions dividing quads from hamstrings which I prefer training in my back days.

Welp, we used to have a mindset like this too.

Yup, we don’t use this in our coaching anymore (bodybuilding competition, a little different..but let’s talk lifestyle”

When you have the mindset of “All or nothing”, you’re setting yourself up for failure
.
The reality is, you’re going to want to be with family, have a birthday dinner, have a cookie, or maybe a lunch with your mom...
.
And with the “all or nothing mindset” you may miss out on all of these things
.
Then you realize something...
.
This sucks!
.
Damn right it does
.
If you were to take down adherence to about 80-90%..you’d be happier..AND you’d make progress.
.
I’m not saying devour everything you can 1 day of the week.
.
Instead, have a meal, maybe a piece of chocolate, or your favorite beer, when you’re feeling like it (just not all the time)
.
Seems tough?
Try this,
6/7 days stay on plan.
.
On the seventh day, eat a meal out, maybe get dessert, and watch a movie.
.
Then guess what..get back on track!
.
Over time, this won’t be the quickest way to hit your goal, but it will keep you happy and it will be sustainable, allowing you to reach that goal and even surpass it.
.
Don’t try to make it harder than it has to be.
.

Transformation stories are not something that I share much about, but unfortunately that's the only thing that people want to see. Since seeing is believing, thought I'd share this pic. CrossFit is not about making a person skinny, it's about making a person fit and change their body composition to tackle any task that might present itself in the future. My first student at Talwalkars, BavaniDass on the left has lost 15+ kgs and can do way more than you might expect of a 60 year old. He's been consistent over the last 15 months and the results have been showing. He's learnt a lot of skills from me but here's the beauty, I've learnt so much from him as well. A true teacher shouldn't live on ego about their knowledge or talents but be ready to learn on a daily basis. I thank him and all my students who've trusted me to help them grow into a fitter version of themselves!

I just started working at Orange Theory in November and am loving it! It’s a challenge but that’s how we grow!⁣

I grew up very active and LOVED sports. I played soccer for 3 years, track for 2, softball for 8 years and Volleyball for 6 years!⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

I struggled with eating disorders starting at the age of 15.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣
I was diagnosed with depression at the age of 16 and have struggled with depression AND anxiety for as long as I can remember.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

I went to outpatient rehab for alcohol dependency when I was 19 years old.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣
I went to outpatient treatment a few years later for Compulsive Overeating.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Am I “cured??” no. But I have come a LONG way and have grown more than I ever imagined I could.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

By the Grace of God these are no longer things I struggle with but I have to be on guard constantly and keep myself in check.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
