Poolside on top of Barcelona ✨🥂.
Barcelona has definitely given me the feels this summer! I am currently reminiscing about this place and the way that I was feeling at this very moment. The feeling of life, great-fullness and appreciation.. ✨

Lost in the clear blues🔹. I am always fascinated about how relaxing water can be. Honestly I am not one that is always in the ocean even though our Island is surrounded by it. But when I do decide to jump in, it feels so calming and you seem to forget everything. 💦

You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better then anyone else. But always stay humble. 👌🏽 What are your thoughts? 💭

After traveling, I typically come home on a little high. I just had a great adventure and have the urge to just keep going... but I also come home pretty exhausted.
.
Lately I’ve been feeling that exhausted side of things for sure. I’m the Q U E E N of landing minutes before having to work and rushing straight there after a long flight — sometimes I’ll walk in the door to work luggage in hand! But right after that stressful transition most likely with a lack of sleep, I like to have a recoop day — which normally consists of reading, relaxing, going on a walk, enjoying a face mask and most importantly drinking water! Planes are terrible for your skin and I also find myself in the middle seat (because I refuse to spend money on a seat assignment), then I’m playing the whole don’t drink water or I’ll have to pee a million times game.
.

Anyway, if you’re ever struggling with jet lag one of my biggest tips is to s l e e p when you normally would — melatonin can be your best friend if you need some extra assistance falling asleep and secondly get yourself o u t s i d e! Now I’m not saying you need to train for a marathon, but go on a peaceful walk. Fresh air can do wonders!!

Itchan Kala (Inner city), Khiva, Uzbekistan. July 2018.
.
.
A popular view of the inner city of Khiva from the city walls!

In my opinion, Khiva is one of the most interesting places in Uzbekistan. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is heavily protected so families do not make any changes to their homes within the inner city. You can't even buy a house here - it must be passed down through the family!
The lack of modern buildings and cars really adds to the feeling of stepping back in time as you explore the labyrinth of alleyways and marvel at the blue tiles in the many madrassas.
Upon seeing the street vendors trying to attract you to their stalls it's not difficult to imagine the the bustling crowds during the time when Khiva was a trading centre along the Great Silk Road.
.
.

I understand the criticism Khiva faces with comparisons to it being like a film set or an open air museum - it is a little too 'perfect' with the cleaning and restorations that took place during the Soviet era and continue today - however it still retains its old world charm and it's a nice escape into the rich history and art of the region.
