Everyone talks about goals, but have you checked in on your values recently? 🤔
.
.
.
In my own opinion, values are 💯 more important to check in on than goals. Why? because your goals should align with your values.
.
.
.
Truly, if you are feeling unhappy, uncertain, or generally confused about your direction in life, I'd urge you to start identifying your values ‼️

Answering yesterday’s question, I’d prefer working at a startup or smaller company over a corporation. I read a well written article on Medium called “This is Silicon Valley” by Gloria Liou, a product manager at Google (I’ll leave a link in my Stories). She goes in depth about her experience working at a tech giant and why she wants to leave. There’s quite a lot of debate around this article, but I agree with her. I can see why others disagree, and I think they all comes from differences in what we value and what we want to do with our lives. So everyone’s opinion is valid. Here’s my personal reasoning:

I’ve worked in a startup and corporate environment. I’ve worked at startups where the hours required were grueling. I’ve experienced the same at a corporation, Fox, where I felt like a cog in a giant money-making machine. The stress and anxiety from previous jobs had me overwhelmed and breaking down at times. Sure they provided snacks and free meals, etc. But the cost was my mental health and my life outside work because it was all designed to keep me at work longer. They tried to make our work seem important. But helping an entertainment company wasn’t fulfilling. How was I helping society?

I really care about making a difference and working on something I truly believe in. The tech giants all provide useful tools, services, and entertainment. They’re great. I love their products (though I don’t like any of the companies themselves). But I need that closer-knit environment where I feel like I play a large role. And I need to know I’m making a difference (no matter the size of the company). This is why I work at MedMen. The founders are truly passionate about their mission. We are helping shatter stereotypes around cannabis whose criminalization has been rooted in racism and whose legality will help so many people medically.
I’m surrounded by people who are passionate about the mission, not just about solving complex engineering problems. That’s not my bread and butter because coding, although I love it, is not my only passion. Nor is it my true passion. It’s just one of many tools I’m utilizing to hopefully help make this world a better place

It’s my first day (f)unemployed! 🤪Friday was my last day at @sony. Reflecting on the experience, I’m so grateful for my time there. Highlights include leading my first large scale project, architecting a new app, completely redoing and modernizing the front end stack, and making friends I’m going to miss so much. For the next two weeks I’m planning on relaxing, catching up on side projects, spending time with friends and family, and thoroughly enjoying the time off 🌊🧘🏻‍♀️🧗🏻‍♀️👯‍♀️

My face when the project I worked on goes live 😍 Lots of hard work went into it and I’m really happy with the outcome 🎉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tell me about your projects, whether it went live or not, what are the process? how do your team members work together? How it felt when the project was launched? 😊 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

{68/100} Friday! 😍 who is also exited for the weekend? Because I am! 🖐🏼 The whole Netherlands is in a good state when the sun is shining ☀️ .
.
Another question that popped in my mind today: Do you know the difference between a programming language, a scripting language and a markup language? We always call everything a programming language, but there are some differences! Read below! 👇🏼👇🏼
.
.
👉🏼 Programming Languages are those languages which need to be compiled. This means that the result is compiled and transformed into binary instruction files. Programming languages are considered lower level languages because it is possible to get full control of the system and give instructions. Examples are C, C++, Objective-C, Java.
.
.
👉🏼 Scripting languages is a subset of programming languages. These languages are not compiled, more like interpreted at run-time. It's like a file containing instructions for a computer to follow to carry out a task. Examples are Python (❤️), Ruby, Javascript.
.
.
👉🏼 Markup languages are not programming languages. They are presentational languages. This means that they are not setting any logical instructions to the computer, but used to structure data, identify data or present data. HTML is a markup language.
.
.
Ps: Good weekend to you all! 😘

Happy Thursday!🌸🌼🌺

Have you ever been to a hackathon?
Please share your experience!☺️
•••
What’s a hackathon?
It’s a word combination of 'hack' and 'marathon'. A hackathon is a design and development event where a group of people collaborate to create a usable software or hardware.👩🏻‍💻

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? Did you do something fun? 🤗 My weekend was interesting, it was a mix of working hard and spending time with @kimo_dev playing Tutti Frutti and Hangman over FaceTime 💻. Have you ever played Tutti Frutti or Hangman? On another note, I’m also very excited to see Kimo again! He will be coming to America 🇺🇸 for the first time in 3 weeks. 3 WEEKS! Let’s be real, long distance relationships are a struggle but his love is worth all the waiting, texting and calling 💕. We have a lot of traveling already planned, some of the places we will be visiting include Washington DC and New York 🗽⁣
⁣
I want to say a hugeee THANK YOU to @delanceyusa for this gorgeous and stylish dark brown PU leather desk mat. Get over to their site to get yours today! #delanceyusa ✨ ⁣
〰️⁣
During the weekend I was learning about Javascript Algorithms and Data Structures 🗃⁣ In this post, we will take a look at some the common traversal algorithms in JavaScript. Some of these are very commonly asked in coding interviews, while others are not so common and will usually make you scratch your head in order to solve them 🙇🏻‍♀️⁣
⁣
🌀 Breadth First Searching Algorithm is used to search for a node in a graph data structure. The algorithm starts at one node, then goes to its neighboring nodes. If the node we are searching for is not found, then it will go to the next node look at its neighbors.⁣
⁣
🌀 Depth First Searching Algorithm is a traversal algorithm that starts searching at one node, and then goes down the path of its neighboring nodes before it goes to the other paths.⁣
⁣
🌀 Binary Tree Traversal Algorithms is a tree data structure where each node can only have up to two child nodes.⁣
⁣
In order to keep this post short and to a point, I have only focused on traversal related algorithms in JavaScript. But even then, there are many other algorithms in JavaScript ☺️⁣
⁣
Until next time, have a lovely week everyone 🌸
