this year, for our grade 11 bonding tour, we went to the premier resort sani pass in drakensberg. after numerous stops and what was an extended, but fun-filled bus ride
through the mountains, we arrived at our hotel. the view was breathtaking and after a quick orientation session and delicious lunch, we dived straight into the adventurous activities our counselors had planned for us! a few of them were abseiling, paintball, hiking, archery, as well as games aimed at stimulating team building and group dynamics. this trip allowed many people, including myself, to overcome our fears and hesitations. personally, i was very nervous to abseil down the 20 meter high cliff near the gushing river. the support and encouragement of my teachers and friends allowed me to attempt something that i had never done before. i am happy to say that it was absolutely worth it to be able to challenge yourself and gain such an unforgettable experience! more importantly, i think that this trip allowed people to interact with others that they had never with before. we had the amazing
opportunity to discover similarities and gain understanding of the people around us through these activities as well as the incredibly amusing game sessions at night. the extended ‘free-time’ we spent at the pool with the background view overlooking the mountains and even just eating together with our friends, really helped us connect as people and develop deeper relationships. on behalf of our grade, i would like to thank all the management, teachers, staff and counselors that made this trip possible whilst making it so enjoyable and safe! thank you.
