Happy saturday! here's a throwback to one of the funnest saturdays i've had in awhile. this is one of the many caves & rock formations of kleftiko. kleftiko is one of the main attractions on milos island and for good reason as you can see. the rocks are incredibly unique & it's such a gorgeous sight to see. a stunning bright white contrasted against the sparkling clear blue waters of the aegean. kleftiko is also known as the pirates cove where it's said pirates hid out in the past. snorkeling through these magnificent caves was a ton of fun, although sometimes a little scary when it gets pitch dark in some spots.
the safest way to access kleftiko is by boat so we booked a tour to kleftiko, sykia cave, & kalogries with volcano boat & it was worth every penny! we also got to hear all the stories behind everything & see so many of the wonderful volcanic landscapes of milos as well as a different viewpoint of the colorful fishing villages, cape vani an old manganese mine & beach, & other famous rock formations such as arkoudes which is known for looking like a rabbit or a bear depending on angle. i will post a pic of it & more from this day soon!
i highly recommend volcano boat if you're headed to milos & want to book a tour. it's not a fancy catamaran like everyone wants for pics but it's a nice speedboat and the ride was not bumpy/choppy at all (i get seasick easily and i felt fine). because of the speed you get to the spots before all the other boats so you just share each spot with your small group! it is also the only one that can fit the cave entrance to sykia instead of offloading into small inflatables. the crew was super fantastic & friendly! you can just tell they love their job & the sea! price was cheaper than other boats. snacks & drinks are served. it was just a great time & a must-do while on the island!
