seitan loaf sliced thin and sautéed in a delicious sauce made from onions, garlic, ginger, sambal, peanut butter, peanuts, tamari, miso, hoisin, lime, carrots, celery and zucchini. served on green leaf lettuce and topped with scallions and sesame seeds.
seitan is made from wheat gluten and has a very similar texture to meat. it can be used as a high protein plant based meat substitute in a variety of dishes. you can also make seitan yourself using vital wheat gluten. there’s a lot of recipes out there, check them out!… when we made it in the past, we found that boiling or steaming it produces the best texture, as opposed to baking or roasting, which we find makes it a little too dry. but if you buy pre-made seitan all you need to do is season it and heat it up to create whatever dish you’re craving!
