for those of you that work with seniors regularly, you know they commonly lose their ability and confidence in hinging forward when doing everyday things like sitting and standing out of a chair. this leads to bad form and potential injuries from improper movement patterns.
hip hinging is a great fundamental exercise to help clients properly practice hinging at the hips which is especially important before entering into a squat (sitting in a chair) to facilitate proper muscular loading.
we used dr. wilson's cue- "try to tap your fingers to the wall" (fingers on sitz bones). in pain when working out? you shouldn't be! mention @hbpilates
