Early tuesday morning balayage for the win 😉
Let’s have a little talk on color theory and color corrections in general!!! Gather round, children.
First things first, let’s talk at home color jobs. They’re simple and cheap, not to mention you can sit in your own bed and may or may not eat cake while it’s processing (we aren’t judging.) Aside from the fact that you don’t have eyes in the back of your head and probably aren’t getting the back as evenly as you should, which can wind up with horrible banding, at home color literally breaks down the hair. Look on the back of your Garnier box (no ingredients listed) maybe give the 1800 number a call (they won’t tell you what’s in it.) They want to keep their recipes a secret! Mineral salts, high levels of ammonia, and other ick linger inside that tube. These colors are made to work on EVERYONE, so they’re potent and strong. The high levels of ammonia eat away at the outside cuticle while the mineral oils literally burrow themselves inside the hair shaft to permanently alter it. Kind of like a parasite.
Fast forward a couple months and you want to go lighter!! Maybe not blonde, could be just a couple of highlights or maybe your dark brown now should be a nice chocolate. Either way, we as the professional have to work our way through those color bands, mineral salts, and damage your $10 dollar box color has left you with. Notice how the strands in the picture are lifting unevenly- some are mustard yellow and others are hanging onto the orange. Box color leaves your hair uneven and the porosity wrecked- making it hard to alter. Not only that, but the professional has to make sure the integrity of your hair is left in tact, and in some cases enlightener or other types of lifting methods can negatively react with box color, causing permanent damage, and in severe cases, even melting of the hair. No one wants a chemical cut!
With that being said, you live and you learn. Before you box dye, ask yourself if it’s with it. Box dye is permanent and leaves you with irreversible damage. Let a professional guide you through the service and give you the (healthy!) hair of your dreams. Any questions, feel free to DM us. ❤️

While everyone is prepping for the weekend, remember to stay hydrated and keep up your fruit and veggie intake❤️ staying out late and drinking can be fun, but remember the aftercare. Fuel your body with the vitamins and nutrients it needs, and not only will your organs be thankful, but your hair will grow and your skin will GLOW⭐️
