~a story from the bench of "kalupe jewellery"~ once upon a time... a very long time ago...a wee lass needed a job and decided to try her luck at a local queen west jewellery shop--the strangest and darkest treasure trunk of them all! the formidable owner (along with growling dog)handed the young girl a pile of tools and said "show me what you can do!" after a short time which seemed like a million hours of nerves...the owner scrutinized the young girls skills and said "come back tomorrow..."
thus began the learning(emotional at times) and a longtime friendship -- each admiring and continuing to learn. apprenticeships are so rare these days. i feel honoured to have learned with the best. now residing in the forests surrounding riga, latvia, talis continues his master craft- all hand carving and fabricating. no cad. very few jewellery supply sources. he's probably carving wax by candlelight in a tent under the stars... miss you big t!
