📌Malzemeler
-1 kg zencefil
-5 yemek kaşığı kaya tuzu
-2 adet limon
-2 adet cam kavanoz -2 litre süt
-Yarım litre su 📌Önce zencefilleri soyup kibrit çöpü kalınlığında dilimliyoruz. Dilimlediğimiz zencefilleri geniş bir kaba alıyoruz ve kaya tuzunda(2 yk tepeleme olmalı) en az yarım saat kadar bekletiyoruz. Bu işlemi yapmamızın sebebi zencefilin acı tadını biraz olsun kaybetmesi. Daha sonra beklettiğimiz zencefillerimizi yıkayıp cam şişelere koyuyoruz. Bir taraftan da 2 litre sütü kaynatıyoruz ve kaynarken üzerine 2 adet limon sıkıyoruz(limonunuzun sulu olmasına bağlı olarak 1 adette yetebilir), sütümüz kesilmeye başlıyor(peynir altı suyunuz berrak olmalı,olduğunu ordan anlayabilirsiniz). 10 dk daha bu şekilde kaynadıktan sonra süzgeçle süzüyoruz, süzgeçte kalan peyniri(taze lor oluyor) ayırıp altta kalan peynir altı suyunu soğumaya bırakıyoruz. Soğuduktan sonra peynir altı suyuna yarım litre su ekliyoruz ve 3 yk kaya tuzunu ekleyip karıştırıyoruz. Daha sonra cam şişelere koyduğumuz zencefilin üzerine peynir altı suyu karışımını (kaya tuzu ve su eklediğimiz karışımı) ekliyoruz. Cam şişelerimizin ağzını hava almamaları için sıkıca kapatıyoruz. Güneş göremeyen biryerde oda sıcaklığında 1 hafta saklıyoruz. Bir hafta sonra buzdolabına alıp 3 haftada buzdolabında beklettikten sonra fermente zencefil artık yemeye hazır hale gelmiş oluyor. .

This helps remove you from the role of the victim to the role of empowered, which is necessary to heal.⁣⁣

2️⃣UNDERSTAND⁣⁣
See the situation for what it truly is. The feelings you have around this can be uncomfortable, but make sure you aren't telling yourself a story about this, that isn't true. Know that feelings are fleeting, and they can't hurt you. And if you've been wronged? Remind yourself that hurt people, hurt people. The person is hurting just as much as you are❤⁣⁣

3️⃣POSITIVE LIGHT⁣⁣
Choose to see the light amidst what you perceive as darkness. Instead of focusing on how this hurt you, how did it help you? Maybe this happened because it's leading you to something better, it's making you stronger, it's teaching you new skills, it's showing you what you want and don't want in life. Remember this happened FOR you, not to you.🙏⁣⁣

This is me in an ice bath. It’s 32° outside, but do you see that sunshine?

I have dived head first into so many things to heal my mind & body. 
I have traveled to Calgary to retrain my brain. To wine country to learn from a Qigong master. I have seen doctors from every corner of the earth. 
What I have learned is until you are ready to heal you won’t! No diet, no meditation, no positive thinking will bring you where you need to be. 
Timing is everything and I definitely would never have been ready to plunge my body into icewater and create heat through movement to keep my body centered and warm if I wasn’t ready, if I wasn’t in this exact moment in time, ready to take the next step towards healing. 
I still have a lot of pain in my body & challenges that seem insurmountable some days, but I am closer than I’ve ever been, my mind is more at ease and I feel a balance that I’ve never felt before. 
These crazy techniques are vehicles that opened my heart, allowed me to let go of what wasn’t serving me and to make room for the healing I have been waiting for. 
It was never going to happen in the time I set for it to happen, it was going to unfold when I was ready to do the work. 
This cold therapy is something & I have been taking freezing cold showers every other day. I am even thinking that a 6 foot bathtub that my husband insisted on would be a good place to plunge once a week just to keep me honest! 
All of the healing methods I have jumped into got me here. None were a waste of time and they all may have been steps to bring me to this place.

i've been drinking coffee since i was 13 years old. that's half my life! it's the thing that brings me joy in the morning. if you're a fellow coffee lover, you know that feeling. that delicious, energizing smell, topped with frothed coconut creamer & mct oil... mmm!⁣

well... coffee & i are on a break. 💔⁣

it's been almost a week now, & guess what? i'm still alive! i truly thought i could never live without coffee.⁣

why would i do such a thing? 🤷🏼‍♀️⁣

i've been working on building the healthiest gut possible- i had grave's disease (autoimmune thyroid condition) & since all autoimmune disease begins in the gut, i've been on a mission to heal my leaky gut for the past few years! when i was 22, my health was at it's worst. despite eating a "healthy" diet, my gut was so bad and i was exhausted all. the. time. i could barely make it through a walk as it felt like i was wearing heavy boots & i was 22 going on 80.⁣

these days, i feel like it's 87% healed. i can workout, my digestion is regular, my eczema is cleared up, but i still have days where my brain is a little foggy & i feel like napping alot.⁣

the more i researched about leaky gut, thyroid & adrenal hormones, i realized that coffee may be holding me back that extra 13%. and i'm shooting for optimal health over here! i'm in my mid-twenties & i wanna be completely thriving!⁣

I am so thankful for rhythms to anchor our hearts, especially in times like this. today, i tested a recipe for a paleo artisan bread. bread and butter (or ghee) makes everything better, right?! this week i found myself deeply grateful doing many things that are normal for our family-homeschool, laundry, quiet times, cups of coffee, testing recipes, workouts, sauna sessions, even cleaning! they grounded me. what a gift! how have you found peace amidst the storm during this time??

-Lectins are plant proteins that bind to carbohydrates. There are many different types of lectins, and not all of them are harmful. The two types of lectins in particular that are known to cause a problem in humans are agglutinins and prolamins.
Agglutinins function as a natural insecticide and can be an aggravating factor in autoimmune disease. The effects of lectins within our bodies can be subtle and hard to recognize, but some agglutinins are incredibly dangerous. For example, Ricin, a lectin found in castor beans, is fatally toxic to humans even in very small amounts.
Genetically modified organism (GMO) grains are especially harmful when it comes to agglutinins. They have been engineered to produce more of their natural insecticides, which may give us a heartier crop, but one that is more inflammatory. Because of this, if you do choose to include grains in your diet, I’d recommend going for non-GMO and heirloom varieties.
Prolamins are necessary proteins for seed growth, and therefore they are not easily digested. Gluten is a prolamin, and most grains contain a prolamin similar in structure to gluten. For example, orzenin in rice or avenin in oats. Prolamins contribute to the cross-reactivity experienced by so many with a gluten sensitivity, and yet grains that contain them are often used as gluten-free alternatives.

Those with autoimmune diseases should also avoid vegetables in the nightshade family (Solanaceae), which includes tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes. These plants are very high in lectins that damage the gut lining, easily enter the bloodstream, and do not break down in cooking. .

This pic was taken in Nice this past summer.  It seems like a lifetime ago, but it was just months. I loved this trip and I can't wait to be back in Europe! I'm looking forward to life getting back to normal. I'm guessing that it'll never be quite like it was, but I'm hoping it's even better! Actually I'm expecting it to be better. I think we're all growing as a result of this pandemic.  I believe we will come out of this stronger, kinder and more compassionate. ⁠⠀

What I also wanted to point out about this pic is the health benefit of the baguettes that I’m holding up. Here’s the thing, you wouldn’t see many nutritionists holding up bread and grinning ear to ear. But I wanted to share this pic because it’s important to know that we can eat bread/carbs and still be healthy. It’s simply knowing about quality. ⁠⠀

These baguettes are special because they are sourdough baguettes which in turn are beneficial for our gut health! ⁠⠀
⁠Gut health is one of the keys to fighting off disease, including viruses.  A simple way to improve gut health is to choose slowly fermented sourdough bread over conventional bread.  You can find sourdough in most health food stores. I recently learned that all #Wholefoods sourdough bread is made with organic wheat and uses slow fermentation. I certainly enjoyed the sourdough baguettes in Nice but I also enjoy them at home!⁠ I also picked up sourdough bread at my local farmers market this weekend! Yum! ⁠⠀

So we really can have a balance in life and still enjoy good health. It's simply a matter of education & listening to our bodies. bei thema entgiften und schwermetall entgiftung habe ich ein paar fehler gemacht und hoffe, dass jemand von meinen fehlern profitieren kann.
meine schwermetall ausleitung hat erst funktioniert als mein leaky gut syndrome geheilt war🏄🏼‍♂️ der wissenschaftlichen stand und der von ganzheitlichen medizinern sowie bekannte autoren wie anthony williams ist sich beim thema gesundheit/krankheit im zusammenhang mit einer erhöhten darmdurchlässigkeit noch recht uneinig😴
es wäre vielleicht aber auch einfach zu einfach, wenn man eine starke ursache für viele chronische erkrankungen festmacht, dafür aber keine patentierbare stoffe zu behandlung vorrätig sind.🤔 vielleicht kommt aber auch da die medizin immer mehr zur “erkenntnis” wie sie es bereits jetzt langsame zu grundlegenden dingen der darmgesundheit tun 🤓

ich möchte in dem post nur darauf hinweisen, dass sich viele menschen wie ich es anfänglich fälschlicherweise auch getan habe, fröhlich und gutgläubig entgiftungs und ausleitungprodukte wie z. b. chlorella & spirulina algen einschmeißen, aber gar nicht wissen, ob ihr darm dicht ist oder nicht!

wenn nicht, kann es dann wie es bei mir auch der fall war leider zur einer rückvergiftung führen.

entgiftung ist aber super wichtig und laut anthony williams sind vor allem schwermetalle gefundenes fressen zur vermehrung von alle viren 🦠, pilzen und bakterien.
weil der gesunde darm bei meiner entgiftung so entscheidend war, würde ich jedem raten sich erfahrene hilfe bei entgiftung und ausleitung zu nehmen. oder zumindest zu prüfen ob eine erhöhte durchlässigkeit vorhanden ist 💩

wenn du eigentlich kerngesund bist, aber dir trotzdem was gutes tun willst, probier doch mal aus 16 stunden nichts zu essen oder sogar einen ganzen tag nichts zu essen 😋

This really does vary depending on how drastic life has changed for you. ⁣

If you want to either maintain or IMPROVE your physique during this time, monitor your progress - either physique photos every few days, how that pair of jeans fits, body measurements or weight. ⁣
⁣
Aside from your cardio & training (because home workouts can be just as intense and should not affect calories burned)...⁣
⁣
Did you go from a 9-5 office job where you sat on your butt all day, to moving MORE than you previously did? Going for walks, cleaning your house, playing outside with the kids, etc. If so, keep them as-is. The extra NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) may even contribute to fat loss. ⁣
⁣
Or, did you go from a physically demanding job to sitting on your couch binging Netflix for the majority of the day outside your workout? If so, I’d still recommend keeping them as-is until you start seeing negative changes. Pick a metric mentioned above and assess twice a week. If you start to see negative changes, consider a ~100-200 caloric decrease (from carbs/fat) daily or, if you have the time, add cardio or just move more throughout your day. ⁣
⁣
We’re gonna be here for a while. Either you come out of this quarantine looking worse, looking the same, or looking better. That is up to YOU and your actions.

Health anxiety is something I’ve dealt with for a very long time. It went from being really severe and taking over my life, to now which is much more minor. However, when it does pop back up, and have I have episodes of it, I don’t enjoy it all. Health anxiety can be managed with organisation, sleep structure, lifestyle structure and a really well balanced diet. Change always throws me off, and in the past 2-3 weeks I’ve have loads of change going on. I rarely talk about my health anxiety anymore, as it’s hard when I’m dealing it and two, I just don’t think it’s important. But it is, for me and you who also deal with it. Health amongst many things is something I have passion for! Explaining to people that through diet and lifestyle change so much good can come is an aim for me. I’m trying to eat so clean as I’ve been having horrible acid reflux, heartburn pains and they are extremely bad. I’m also stated to work our and sort my sleep pattern out. In addition to this, I just want to say, stay positive in these tough times. Especially when it is easy to self diagnose yourself with these broad symptoms. Eat health, stay healthy and keep on remaking positive admits life in general. 1 cup nut butter (sub sunflower butter if nut-free).
1/3 cup coconut 🥥 oil.
1/3 cup maple syrup.
1 1/2 cups organic crispy rice cereal.
1/3 cup sliced, lightly toasted almonds or pecans.
1/2 cup ground flaxseed meal.
2 scoops @vitalproteins collagen peptides .
1/2 cup dark chocolate 🍫 chips.

1. In saucepan, melt coconut oil, maple 🍁 syrup, and nut/seed butter.
2. In mixing bowl, combine: dry ingredients and mix well.
3. Fold melted ingredients into dry and stir to combine. 
4. Stir in chocolate chips. 
5. Line muffin pan with liners and spoon mixture evenly into each linter. Press down slightly to fill completely.
6. Sprinkle with a few more chocolate chips and pop into freezer for 1 hour to set.

Makes about 12 crispy treats (unless your helpers do a lot of tasting along the way)! .

A lot of people are surprised to find out that I eat meat and honestly, for years I was vegetarian and before that I was strictly vegan.  However, after finding out that I'm intolerant to grains, legumes and soy I knew it was time to make a change and truth is, I've never felt better!

We make sure to buy organic, antibiotic and hormone-free meat and we use we the whole peice of meat... right up to the bones!

Thankfully, bone broth happenes to be one of the best foods you can consume when trying to heal a leaky gut).

✅It contains collagen which nouishes the intestinal lining and reduces inflammation .
✅It's loaded with nutrients and antioxidants .
✅It's easy to digest .
✅It supports a healthy immune system .
✅It enhances digestion with fewer cases of constipation, diarrhea, gas, acid reflux and bloating .

Bone broth is so easy to make but you want to make sure you're using good quality vegetables because while the broth is cooking, you're leaching out all of the vital nutrients, minerals and collagen hiding inside those bones! That means that if your bones/veggies are full of antibiotics, hormones or pesticides, you're leaching that out as well! 😳

Instead of throwing things like brocoli stocks🥦, sweet potato/ carrot peels🥕, the ends of celery or left over onions🧅 in the green bin, I add them to a freezer bag and at the end of each week I dump whatever veggies I've collected into my #instantpot along with some bones, spices and 2 tsp of ACV (this ingredient is super important. It's what helps leech the nutrients out of the bones). I fill up the instant pot half way with water and set it for 4 hours! 🍲

Once it's done, I strain it and add the broth to mason jars and then I sip on it like tea throughout the week or use it for a soup base. ☕🥣

Diets that cut all sugar, carbs and alcohol are commonly used to "treat" candida. if you do a quick google search, you'll come up with many extremely restrictive diet plans. there's a problem though! these diets don't address the whole picture and the root cause of candida - gut imbalance. ⁠

so the answer is yes and no.⁠

in the lab tests i've been running, i'm finding that candida is pervasive in our society. with this opportunistic bug being so common (including in me!), i think it's important to consider that it may be a contributing factor to any symptoms you are experiencing. autoimmune disorders, eczema, fatigue, achy joints, bloating, recurrent yeast infections and so many other symptoms can go hand in hand with this bug. ⁠

RECIPE BELOW // Have you ever eaten raw Brussels sprouts before? Just like in my kale salad recipe, massaging thinly-shaved sprouts with olive oil and salt yields a softer and more digestible green. By not cooking them, you get to reap the benefits of all of that folate contained within (cooking degrades the folate in vegetables, which is why it is good to mix things up and eat them raw if you can!). I’ve added some early spring veggies like radishes and fennel to give this salad a fresh kick.⁠⠀

To me, the thing that makes for a delightful salad is texture — having just the right size and shape of everything. One of my favorite salad-making tools is a mandoline slicer. It is the best way to get paper-thin radish, onion, and fennel slices here — just make sure to use it safely with cut-resistant gloves or a safety holder on the end. If not, a super sharp knife and a little patience will do!⁠⠀
⁠⠀
🥗1 pound Brussels sprouts, ends removed, halved, and thinly sliced⁠⠀
🥗3 tablespoons olive oil⁠⠀
🥗½ teaspoon sea salt⁠⠀
🥗½ small red onion, thinly sliced⁠⠀
🥗1 bunch radishes, ends removed and thinly sliced⁠⠀
🥗1 small fennel bulb, end removed and thinly sliced⁠⠀
🥗1 mandarin oranges (tangerines or clementines work well), chopped⁠⠀

After my 40 hour bone broth fast and Ozark binge THIS meal...was everything. This is what most of my meals are gonna look like from today and while I would much rather it be a stack of pancakes or a bowl of oats (🥺 r.i.p) I can definitely get behind it. The hardest thing when changing up your diet for health reasons is the lack of excitement/satisfaction that comes with most meals...until you find out how to make them more enjoyable. Seasonin’s baby. Garlic, thyme, lemon, parsley, turmeric, salt...SMOTHER them on everything. The foods I eat can feel super repetitive as well so switching up combo’s and playing around with HOW I cook them makes aLL the difference! So for lunch we have 👉🏼 lemon, garlic & thyme grilled chicken breast with steamed kale, roasted broccoli and sweet potato wedges. 
Hope you’re all hanging in there 🌎 I had a few days of feeling super anxious and while keeping busy and proactive is great for some - for me a day of doing absolutely nothing and being by myself works wonders. Okay, so i normally don't consume dairy, but i have found even before all of my health issues started that i always felt amazing after eating yogurt like activia....yet after eating an ice cream cone i always felt not sooo great. why do you think that may be? probiotics! 100% it is the probiotics. it's crazy how a sensitivity to a food can seem to "disappear" when probiotics are introduced. anyhow, i have been doing some gut health research (as always) and stumbled upon people who have gut issues still consuming dairy, in the form of greek yogurt. so when i went to the store yesterday, i said, you know what, i'm gonna give it a try! so for breakfast this morning i whipped this up. greek yogurt (i would have gotten organic if i could have but wal-mart had some slim pickins', next time though 😉), collagen peptides, pineapple (also amazing for digestion) and cacao nibs! usually i would be suffering from cramping and stomach aches, headaches, and a whole slew of uncomfortable symptoms but not today! thank you probiotics 👌🏻 also, this breakfast is completely sugar free but literally was so sweet! mostly because of the natural sugars in the yogurt and the pineapple. i highly recommend this as a delicious and filling breakfast due to the high amount of protein in the yogurt! 🍍🍍🍍 #candidadiet #candidadietfriendly #leakygut #leakygutfriendly #healyourgut #greekyogurt #pineapple #collagen #cacaonibs #deliciousfillingbreakfast #probiotics

Why do I exercise? 
It used to be punishment. I was either trying to negate too many calories from the day before or start my day at negative calories. I exercised to get thinner. I thought that’s where I would feel beautiful. 
Until I realized I didn’t. I didn’t feel beautiful because I exercised. I felt like I was on this rollercoaster of trying to control everything only to fail because I COULDN’T control everything. I could be climbing up, up, up making progress only to have a setback that sent me plummeting back. I was using exercise to punish those plummets and I was on a rollercoaster of restricting all week and binge eating all weekend. 
No wonder my health went to crap in 2016. When I look at photos that year, I looked GOOD, but my body was destroying itself from the inside out with leaky gut, an autoimmune condition and scary high levels of estrogen. My “healthy” lifestyle was an illusion, hiding so much work that needed to be done on the inside.

I’m so glad I woke up.

there are two facets to the immune system: the "quick-acting, spring-into-action right away system" (innate) and the "let's take our time, study the threat, create a game plan, and remember every move" system (adaptive).

- does not contribute to lasting immunity
- responds to immediate threats
- creates short-term (acute) inflammation (which is helpful in short spurts)
- works to heal infections by producing: redness, swelling, heat, and pain; these uncomfortable sensations tell our brain to stop and get help; the swelling, heat, redness is a byproduct of healing chemicals rushing to the area

INGREDIENTS:⁠

• 8 chicken drumsticks⁠
• 3.5 oz. (100g) chipotle sauce⁠
• 2 garlic cloves, crushed⁠
• 2 handfuls mint leaves, chopped⁠
• 1 cucumber⁠
• 6 oz. (170g) natural yogurt or dairy-free yogurt⁠
⁠
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:⁠
⁠
Cover the chicken drumsticks with the chipotle sauce and leave to marinate for at least 1 hour.⁠
⁠
Preheat the oven to 360F (180C).⁠
⁠
In the meantime, crush the garlic and chop the mint leaves. Peel the cucumber, halve in length and remove the seeds with a teaspoon. Grate the cucumber pulp coarsely, then mix it with the yogurt, garlic, and mint. Season with salt and pepper.⁠
⁠
Cook the chicken in the oven for about 35 minutes until cooked throughout. Serve the chicken with the tzatziki dip.⁠

One silver living I’ve discovered in this whole  situation is the chance to slow down a little. While included making this luxurious bowl of oats for breakfast: a base of oats cooked in almond milk, topped with blueberries, some of my Fig, Cranberry and Raisin Granola (recipe on the blog) and a Choc Mint @fodbods - the perfect hit of protein and deliciousness to take my bowl to the next level 🤤

Constipation plays havoc with gut health which can negatively impact the immune system, skin and brain functions. This is because food is fermenting in the large intestine and essentially 'going off'. There are two main reasons for constipation including a lack of fibre from not eating enough plant based food. Secondly, dehydration when they are not drinking adequate amounts of water. To calculate how much water your child needs a good rule of thumb is 35mls of water for per kilogram of body weight.

Meer salades 😍't is zo warm, ik krijg gelijk zin in smoothies en salades met heerlijk fruit. Afgelopen week veel deze salade gegeten, met mango, kappertjes, komkommer, tonijn of ansjovis of kip. ⁠

Ik ben geen hamsteraar maar heb een vriendin van mij toch maar een aantal blikken tonijn van @fishtales_nl laten kopen. Dat is namelijk fijn zonder vriezer want zo kan ik toch vis eten zonder dat het allemaal gelijk op moet 🙃⁠

Dat moest namelijk wel met de bouillon, kreeg twee hele kippen karkassen van de slager een tijdje terug. Dat was drie dagen achter elkaar bouillon trekken. Gelukkig zat er ook nog vlees aan het karkas dus dat weer gebruikt in andere salades. Overigens de kleine botjes ook want heb van @tamars_aip_adventure vernomen dat je die gewoon kan eten 🙈⁠

Ik heb trouwens voorgenomen om deze week weer een beetje routine in mijn dagen te krijgen. Heeft niks met corona te maken (tsja dat kan ook) maar begin eindelijk een beetje uit een dal te kruipen wat betreft gezondheid 😁⁠
