Here’s a cool true story from one of the recognizable names in the naturalhair arena of nigeria. a medical doctor by profession and a lady who has grown to know her hair so well.
ladies and gentlemen, we present to you dr linda osuntade @lindaosuntade
“i went natural by big chopping on the 27th of february 2014. the fact that my hair was very damaged from relaxers and neglect. then, i was researching healthy hair and i stumbled on natural hair. i fell in love with what i saw and decided to try it.
i always have my hair in a protective style. by this i don't mean weaves or braids. i mean using my own hair. like doing updos, braids, twists. i prefer to wear my hair this way because it helps me retain length.
my hair routine is as follows:
i wash my hair every 2 weeks, inbetween that i usually have a protective style. on wash days, i prepoo, wash (i always wash in twists to prevent tangling). after washing, i deep condition. this is where i finger detangle. after the deep conditioner has been on my hair for about 1 hour, i rinse out, then i do a hot oil treatment, then i moisturize and style when my hair is dry.
i don’t have a fixed time for trimming. i trim when i feel my ends are old and damaged.
if you are a new naturalista, please research as much as you can because that's the only way you can know how to take care of your hair.” ourhairourpride! #afroamakatruestories
