"many dogs know when their owners are coming home, cats do it too, and a number of other animals, occasionally rabbits, guinea pigs, quite often parrots and other domestic animals do this. they seem to aniticipate the arrival of the person by going and waiting at a door or window, or in the case of parrots they sometimes actually announce verbally who is going to come. they...sometimes know 10 minutes or more in advance. the reason i think it's telepathic is because we've actually done experiments to test this." lost was the only cat waiting for me to come home. it was beautiful seeing him sitting on the top of the gate's column, eyes gliterring under the tree shadow at night or looking at me at 6.00 am on sunday mornings when i was back after church. some kinds of waiting just lead us to fall in love so gently, and lovely. lost kept waiting for me until he died, 2 days after chester's death. he was so sick. i wasn't at home that night. that was the day i knew i would never have him waiting for me again. i still wonder if he was looking for me in his last breath. i hope he didn't. it can be forever missing. i'm forever missing him.
