Update: so it turns out that i have piriformis syndrome, which is irritating the sciatic nerve that’s shooting down my right leg. because of this, i’ve been lifting below 185lb as my working sets for both squat and deadlift. i was disappointed in not being able to lift above 165 with mild pain, but i can’t take that risk now that i’m 7 weeks out. hopefully with more stretching and icing the area the inflammation will eventually fade. i’ve been focusing more towards hitting depth and having better control for squats since i still have a habit of dive-bombing. i do see some improvement so i’m definitely heading to the right direction. just need to be more accountable with my training, health, and cutting weight before weigh-ins.
