🥖😲 TRUTH ABOUT STRETCHING 😲🥖

This one is going to make a lot of you cringe or really question your belief systems. Not all stretches are the same and there is a different time and place for each. Doing the wrong type of stretching at the wrong time could actually be hindering your results! 👀
•
Essentially there are two overarching groups:
1. STATIC: These are your old school stretches where you hold the pose for an extended period of time, usually 30 seconds or more ⛄️
2. DYNAMIC: These are more along the lines of an active warm-up, that include body weight motions akin to your main workout exercises 🌊
•
I see a lot of people performing static stretches before working out and this is a big NO. Don’t get me wrong, static stretching has great recovery benefits when performed AFTER your training or before bedtime. However, doing these right before your workout elongates your muscles and forces your body to readapt on the fly instead of using its stored movement patterns which are more neurologically efficient 🔌💡

Dynamic stretches, on the other hand, can be quite useful as long as you don’t fatigue yourself before you train. Warming up and performing movements similar to your workout are excellent for increasing blood flow and activating the central nervous system. Personally I spend 5-10 min before every workout to ensure the muscles I want to train are fully warmed up and in an active state. This will actually increase your strength! 💪🏼🌪
