Best wine with best pizza? when a restaurant in wellington gets awarded in 70 best restaurants with a pizzeria in the world (list drafted by heinz beck & enrico famà editor of ristorazione italiana magazine) you know i’m walking in for a wine! heinz beck 3⭐️ michelin chef, i’ve been to his dubai digs, very posh, think 🍅 air, smoked 🥔 foams, truffles, truffles & more truffles. enrico, well it’s a long list, but president of italian pizzamakers' school, probably knows a good 🍕 when he sees one, right?
so with all due respect, kinda had me scratching my head ... little ole’ wellington pizza really?? hell yes! ✅ omg the crust with the little burnt cracked bits! the dough wasn’t billowy spongy bread merely the perfect vehicle for the san marzano 🍅 & buffalo mozzarella to take a ride. seriously good 🍕 washed down with a cheeky half of negroamaro. it’s name means dark bitter one, it’s from southern 🇮🇹 in the heel but look at that deep colour! you might assume, it’s going to be a punch in the 👄 but it’s actually the opposite, & that’s ☝️of the tricks in blind tasting it. it’s not very tannic, nor acidic, think 🍒 plums, hints of tobacco & oh so drinkable, like really easily, like so so easily i ate the whole 🍕 & drank the cheeky half all myself. move on, don’t judge.
well, for a town with no international celebrity chef outlets, topping out at mcdonalds, nandos & wagamama 😂 i’m a little bit chuffed for la bella italia, a well deserved 🔦 on nz to the 🌏
