How to serve oshun: oshun is your girl for all things beautiful, love, children, pregnancy, emotional well being, money, love spells and potions. as she is the goddess of love and the orisha of rivers, she is kind and generous. she loves to laugh and will help you but dont break promises to her. as sweet as she is like honey she can quickly turn sour. you will know when oshun’s beauty is around, the birds are singing, people are laughing and being silly.
oshun’s day is saturday. when you want her to work with you, you have to go all out. she likes a clean space. make sure her altar is smelling great as well. spray your favorite perfume. she likes all things yellow, gold and brass is also accepted. be sure to praise her and tell her how beautiful she is. she likes to be called goddess. her food of choice would be pumpkins, sweet potatoes, squash, chocolate, oranges with honey and cinnamon on top. always taste the honey before offering it to her. make sure to bring flowers to her altar, you may bring sunflowers or roses but carnations are also accepted.
you’ll need a candle and a picture of her. you can places 5 coins, a mirror, brush, jewelry and all things related to beauty on her altar.
then you’d say “ori ye ye ohh my mother oshun, queen of rivers and streams.
oh, my mother oshun, hear our prayers. near the waterfall there is a small cave, near the waterfall there is a small golden bench. near the waterfall my mother oshun often comes to rest”. tell her you wishes and ask her to help you. light your candle for five days and dispose after. you may also bring offerings to her at a river and fresh lakes if that is possible and leave it there.
