notes on blindness is an insight into the life of john hull, professor and theologian with a deeply reflective bent, who became totally blind after decades of steadily deteriorating vision, an academic who, as he descended into the darkness of total blindness, kept an audio diary on cassettes starting in 1983. these very recordings are lip-synced by the actors and they, along with a unique visual style, attempt to recreate john's perspective on his experience. the memoirs capture the pure physical and psychological turmoil experienced by john after losing his vision, and as he says, battling to live in reality instead of the nostalgic world that his brain is forcing upon him.
