the city of mostar is so close yet so far from the well-beaten tourist trail in the balkans, just a few hours by bus from dubrovnik. what looks straight out of a fairytale is a city that has a tumultuous past, hit very hard during the civil war that dissolved what was yugoslavia in the '90's. when we decided to go to bosnia, so many people asked us why, thinking only of what we remember from the news. i think it's the complexity of a place that makes it the most interesting... and this view from the top of the minaret of a mosque in old town didn't hurt either 🕌
