When i feel overwhelmed with things that need to be done, or by my own expectations of spiritual “progress,” i try to remember one of the messages krishna gives arjun in the bhagavad gita: the spiritual practice is a cumulative one. every tiny step counts and helps to grow the work that has already been done.
a week out from the new moon can sometimes feel sticky, like the intention you set has gotten off the ground, but is somehow now in limbo. stay the course. you and i are being tested in our resolve. big, dramatic action isn’t always for the best. sustainable change/progress is built in our every day actions, not our once yearly (or monthly) resolutions.
even if your feet are cut up and dirty and it feels hard to stand, just take one step today in the name of your desire. you never know which step will bring you to where you want to be.
