“tireless, tied, as a moon-bound sea moves...”
i read the least amount in high school because the “required reading” really took the fun out of it for me. it wasn’t until senior year when i read the work of a certain brilliant woman that reignited my love once again. sylvia plath was one of the first authors that expressed emotions i felt, but didn’t fully understand myself. it’s hard to put into words how we feel, but when we find an author who does...it’s an amazing feeling. the poetry in ‘the colossus’ is rich in imagery of the natural world. the atmosphere plath creates in this work is dark and puts words together in a way that only she can.
