At every single piggery you will find a dead pile.
the pigs who have not survived life on the farm or who have been killed because they were too sick or unprofitable are thrown onto piles like these to decompose and be used as fertilizer.
Building trust with animals. just a few days ago these pigs were scarpering at the sight of me entering their enclosure and were eyeing me up very suspiciously. every time i got closer i could see their breathing quicken as they felt threatened or unsure of my presence. i felt guilty for making them feel so nervous. today i managed to convince them to come and say hello to me, and give my hand a good sniff and a push around with their snouts. it feels pretty special with any animal to gain their trust, especially when you know they haven’t had the best start in life. now regardless of whether we choose to eat these animals or not, they deserve to be able to trust us to treat them with respect, compassion and care.
