i love the story behind these dishes! thanks for tagging #vintagesafekeeper
"this is a souvenir of the 80 s : porcelain from the antico café greco, commonly known as café greco, one of rome‘s most important artist-cafes. it‘s name was first mentioned in the memoirs of casanova: in 1742! from the late eighteenth century onward numerous foreign artists and intellectuals were flocking to rome like pilgrims. the cafe greco was the most important meeting place and ‚hangout‘: goethe, keats, shelley, baudelaire, gogol,schopenhauer... during the continental blockade imposed by napoleon the price for coffee was nearly unaffordable. the cafe greco was the first to conceive the idea of serving coffee in smaller cups..the cafe has survived all crises to this day. the well-preserved rooms of rome‘s eldest coffee house with a lot of art on the walls continue to provide a window to a great italian past..👍😍🇮🇪 and besides all that: the orange and white and golden color of this porcelain is sooo nice 😀"
