i wanted to repost this picture because a vast majority of you have not seen it, and it's a truly remarkable work of art.
what it's showing is modern day people just living their average everyday lives in places that have immense historical significance.
here we see the crashing of the hindenburg, which occurred on may 6th of 1937. the airship caught fire and exploded during its attempt to dock with the mooring mast at the naval air station lakehurst in manchester township, new jersey, united states. the loss of the hindenburg was a worldwide news report, and it brought many to the conclusion that this type of airship was not ideal (to say the least).
the other photo is from an american naval invasion. to be standing with your daughter, playing in the sand, on the same beach that thousands of american soldiers rushed ashore under immense fire is probably one of the weirdest feelings on earth.
for those of you who have visited the normandy beaches you know the feeling i am talking about. it's almost as if you can feel them beside you. if any of you have not had his experience i urge it heavily upon you as you will not regret it, and it will most likely be one of the greatest experiences of your life.
these pictures are so great because if it just merely showed the women and her child, or the man and his dog, you would never know the significance of where they are, but because they overlap with the old pictures, it creates an image that is immensely impactful to the viewer.
history walks with us wherever we go on earth, and even though it is behind us, we must appreciate its impact because the world would not be the same without it.
