I went to college at point loma nazarene university for a brief time, a beautiful school which overlooks the pacific ocean. i lived on campus for one semester—in what was the freshman boy’s dorm, hendricks, back then. of all the things i remember most clearly from that dorm-living semester, was the bathroom. because the dorm was originally designed for young men, the bathroom was an ‘open’ style and not exactly ideal for privacy 😂. so pvc pipe and tarps served as our makeshift stalls.
...
every now and then, (before having to use the tarp showers 😂), i would go on a run along sunset cliffs before my first class of the day. that particular season was one of uncertainty and doubt—while studying to be a teacher, i was very unsure if it was my passion. or even what my passion was at all. it was on those runs when looking out through the fog at the crystal blue waters, calm would intervene and allow me to feel connected with my creator.
...
and in the very same place, along the very same path i used to run on those uncertain mornings, i stood once again during this photoshoot doing what i absolutely love. all while working alongside other wedding creatives whose craft is also inspired by god’s healing artistry. and it was a reminder that god does not waste our worry and struggles—he uses it for good. and i’m grateful that he used my uncertainty to eventually lead me to where i am now.
