Last eid, we took some cheap baskets and filled them together with candy to hand out to other kids (and of course, to eat). my kids just loved the act of filling up those baskets. this is a big deal for my candy-deprived kids. so, right now - more important than decoration - was getting some baskets ready. it took all of a minute. but the tradition is becoming important to them. tradition is what creates memories. my hope is to create memories. inshaallah. obviously doesn’t match my memories of praying tarawih and eid prayer in the haram. but, nevertheless - memories.
so...if you haven’t decorated yet - just remember: priorities. know your seasons. know the season you’re in. and remember, it is just that - a season.
eid moo-barak! sorry, couldn’t resist...
