We spend so much time trying to get it together, to do better, to try harder as if somehow it’s all up to us.
even in all the trying and struggling we are looking to ourselves to do it. it’s only when we give up, throw up our hands and admit we have nothing to add to this equation that god’s power, grace and love comes rushing in.
yes, we have to obey. yes, we have to move on in faith. yes, we have to make choices every day to say yes to god but it’s not us. every yes we have, every ounce of faith, every gift, every response is all graced from god to us.
the sooner we can get out of our own way of trying to somehow be our own savior, our own righteousness, our own strength, he can come in and be what only he can.
desperate, needy, broken, poor in spirit, meek, these are god’s people, these are the blessed because these are the ones who know what crucifying their striving flesh looks like and letting christ live in them instead.
“are you so foolish? after beginning by means of the spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?” gal. 3:3 #walkingreflections
