My family and i live a mostly blessed life. we truly need for nothing. 💯% that is until we had a child lose his most prized and valued item. 🐒 the stuffed animal that nothing else could replace. 3 weeks ago it happened. we lost the monkey 😮. we scoured the house, literally tearing it apart. we listened to our child's cries and wails at night for his beloved "mun-tee". for 3 weeks 😢. it was gone. we tried giving him replacements, but nothing would do.
i started doing some research on why my child is obsessed with this monkey. science tells us that a “transitional object” that a child chooses on his own, attributes special value to, and over which the child has absolute control helps them shift between early o**l relationships with their mothers to genuine object-based relationships. stuffed animals are among the most commonly chosen transitional objects, and scientists suspect that’s because they’re soft and well-proportioned — designed to provide comfort.
so my kid was getting the utmost comfort from this $3 drugstore monkey when he could not have me by his side.
fast forward to tonight. ➡️ after running a load of laundry, for the 2nd time in the wash cause you mom's all know sometimes you forget it's in there and has to be redone 😂. i was taking it out and putting it in the dryer and lo and behold there was that d**n monkey 😁.
i am a simple woman. my family, friends, and career give me so much joy. i will say that i cannot wait for my little boy to wake up tomorrow morning and i can show him this monkey 🐵. my heart is so full ♥️.
