Settling back in to home tonight after being in tahoe this past weekend. the house is a mess but i find myself not caring about the messes like i normally do. a story about love and life is why i traveled to the beautiful blue lake these past few days. i photographed a couple celebrating 50 years of marriage (i put a picture of them in my story). they were joined by their 6 children and their children’s children. 37 people total. how inspiring it was for me, who is mostly still in the trenches of raising young children, to see a family celebrating with their grown children and the fruits of life well lived. their was laughter, champagne, and kids running around playing games. my husband was by my side assisting during the shoot and as we walked back to our little cabin afterwards, we talked about how one day we hope to be celebrating 50 years of marriage with our grown children and grandchildren. how beautiful it was to witness and photograph the result of the years of hard work it takes to raise a family. grateful to be going to sleep tonight with the reminder to keep going and keep trying to raise my family the best i can because one day, lord willing, they will be grown and we will find ourselves celebrating milestones like 50 years of marriage and family.
