True story! 🌊🌅
when we stayed in santorini last year we booked this incredible original cave built into the cliff with its own balcony looking out over the aegean sea. the cave was one room with a beautiful big bed in the middle, a bathroom off to one side and a little kitchenette off to the other. the cave was only accessible through a gate and up some very step stairs so it was very private. one night we stumbled home after dinner and few wines and without any thought, fell into bed and straight to sleep. i didn't even remember to lock the door. (its santorini after all, who's going to rob us in satorini!?) a few hours later i woke (around 3am) to the door to our cave slowly being opened and the shadow of a man appeared in the doorway creeping into our room. still half asleep i said "hello?" (thinking i had slept in and it must've been the maid). when my eyes adjusted i realised it was a man coming into our room to rob or attack us! tal woke up and immediately ran to the door but it was too late - the man had quickly exited our cave, shut the door and disappeared. the next day i called our "host" to let them know what had happened and they reassured us that it must've been a d***k tourist looking for his room. but when we though back to when it happened - the gate at the bottom of the stairs was still closed and theres no way he could've gotten down those stairs so fast to disappear if he was drunk! our intruder had clearly roof hopped along the homes next to us.
note to self: always lock the door no matter where you are or how many wines you've had 😂😂
this is a photo of the view from our cave over the aegean! to die for 🌊🌅
