There's a lot of unknowns in offering yoga online... which platform do i use? do i go live or record and share? can i do both? how? do i need a mic? a camera? where in my house is suitable? what's it like to teach without music? (halp!) and on and on.
sometimes the pressure to stay relevant, to keep up with the rest, to not be forgotten... to get online, feels a little intoxicating (not the good kind), and while i'm super keen and absolutely working on it, i'm feeling very exposed and vulnerable.
for me, yoga is about relationship. it's love. it's connection. i adore my students, i love seeing them, hearing how they are, checking in... i feel like i'm grieving the loss of that face to face connection and hope going online helps to restore some of that connection.
i have to remember, i'm going online because i believe that bhakti yoga is my yoga.
bhakti yoga, also called bhakti marga, is a spiritual path or spiritual practice focused on loving devotion towards a personal god. my bible says in ephesians 4:16 “from him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” vasudhaiva kutumbakam is a sanskrit phrase found in hindu texts such as the maha upanishad, which means "the world is one family". everyone has a part. everyone has a message, a gift to share.
so my sharing is a service for you, born out of devotion to my god.
i can't wait. ❤️
