I've just spent some incredible fun-filled days driving around the cotswolds countryside with @happytowander.
we photographed plenty of buttery-stone architecture, wisteria walls, and countless quaint villages
of course, we also giggled over everything (including christina's puns; for example, 'bye-bury' when leaving bibury) and drank only coffee and soda for pretty much the entire trip!
here are some of my favourite highlights of our cotswold getaway (in general, both of us are just super awkward and terrible at directions, and yet we still somehow manage to see a million attractions in one day!
wandering around the hidden gem of wotton-under-edge; i had never even heard of this village mentioned and yet it's famous for once having had 46 pubs and now has an abundance of coffee houses and tea shops!
seeing the tyndale monument of north nibley; this imposing tower is dedicated to a translator of the new testament. he's meant to have been born in stinchcombe (where we also stopped to take some pictures!). nearby, berkeley castle is a must-see and the jenner museum is the former home of an early vaccination pioneer.
getting very lost in the children's maze of bourton on the water (we struggled to solve the clues and i highly recommend trying to solve the maze for yourself!!). nearby, the bourton-on-the-water model village is the only grade ii listed model village in england. what really blew our minds is that the model village had a model village, which in turn had its own model village.
thinking that we would be able to see charles and camilla's country estate from the roadside near tetbury. if you want to embark on a garden tour at highgrove, then you need to book tickets well in advance! the village of tetbury itself is one of the most charming settlements in the cotswolds and is even home to a free-to-visit police museum and lots of antique shops.
i also loved seeing the mosaics of chedworth villa (plus the national trust staff were honestly so friendly and lovely to chat to!), being amazed by the 'harry potter' cloisters of gloucester cathedral, and staying in a beautiful apartment in lechlade-on-thames! ☀️
