I want to document the full story behind this side of this painting i am working on now. in march i had an inspiration for a painting titled "bloom" i haven't done yet. i almost started "bloom", until the inspiration for a "bud" came up. so obviously i need to do "bud" before "bloom", because flowers themselves do not bloom until they bud. one of the ideas that will be displayed in "bloom" is a bird. so i had to come up with an idea of how to portray a bird "budding" in this "bud" painting. it dawned on me one night. i've yet to paint an egg and i could paint a baby bird hatching from an egg! i had a few other ideas like rose buds & a crest of sincerity(originally purity in japan), i wanted to incorporate but wasn't sure how to incorporate such little things in a big painting. i wasn't sure where i would place a little baby bird hatching from an egg.
i prayed that same night that god would help me to incorporate all of these little ideas. the next day i had to water the garden. while i was watering the grass under our tree, i noticed i was watering what looked to be a little egg sitting perfectly between the roots. i thought a bird dropped it's egg. i poke it with a stick and it's as hard as a rock so i pick it up and what do you know? it's a rock. and there aren't other rocks anywhere around like this. a bird must've found it thinking it was an egg and brought it to it's nest in the tree. i think to myself, "wow, now this is great timing. the inspiration for the egg and the baby bird from last night have left eggs on my mind." i immediately pocket the egg rock and head to the backyard where i started to water a rose bush that had just bud for the first time that year (we trimmed it way down in the beginning of summer). i was admiring a rosebud's beauty with rain drops on it.. and then it hit me! "a bird nest in a rose bush! roses budding all around the little bird hatching! as a raincloud rains down from above! the crest of sincerity is shaped like a raindrop! that's how i can incorporate all these tiny, unrelated ideas. by making them all one big idea!"
