thanks for leaning in and hearing the stories of black people over the past couple of days.
i’ll reintroduce myself.
•i’m a first generation canadian with filipino & ghanaian parents. •i’m originally from brampton, on & moved to edmonton in 2013. •i love coffee.
•i love the colour blue.
•i love my plants, a lot.
•i love canoeing & tandem biking.
•i’m married to @mikekunicki, my best friend.
•i spoiled my engagement, was engaged for 10 days secretly & planned a surprise wedding for our immediate family and bridal party essentially (the video is on my personal ig @jesskunicki
•i love people a lot. they are my favourite. i work with teenagers by day & it’s the dream.
• i fell in love with photography when i was a kid. my dad had a photo of my grandpa who was originally born in 1896. it would have been taken in the 30’s. it was crazy to me that a picture could say so much about a person even as time goes by.
i auditioned to enrolled in the regional arts program at my middle school & high school. visual arts became my world & a primary method of expressing myself.
it’s an amazing privilege to capture a moment in time for someone. i of all people get to give the gift of enjoying a moment after it has moved from the present. it’s pretty sweet. i work to refine my craft knowing that i bare this responsibility. it happens to be a lot of fun for me.
i was born black passing. i lived as a black passing person. i continue to do so daily. i hope this current movement changes history forever. i hope more and more people realize something has been off the entire time. this is not a fad. our everyday actions can bring real change for us.
welcome to my instagram & thanks for journeying with me as i work to capture the stories, essence, beauty and love of the people i meet. nice to meet you!
