Toothpick tuesday! (can that be a thing? 😅) all summer long i find myself throwing together this super simple appetizer. the combination of basil, mozzarella cheese and grape tomatoes really brings everyone together! i always poor a little bowl of balsamic to use for dipping or drizzle the caprese sticks with balsamic glaze.
i used to not be a fan of basil. i would pick it off of pizzas and out of pasta, and now i realize these sticks were my gateway to liking basil! if you are a picky eater like i used to be, try sneaking it in to foods you like (salads, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, scrambled eggs) and pretty soon you won’t even remember you didn’t like a food! i’m working on this with mushrooms right now 🤷🏻♀️ another thing that helped me to like basil is understanding that what gives it the unique taste and smell is actually the factor that gives us the health benefits. this helps give a boost to our immune systems while simultaneously helping decrease inflammation. a lot of people throw smoothies together for those benefits after a wild weekend or indulging on vacation. next time throw some basil in there too! 🍅🌿🤗☀️ #thewellbalancednurse
