Real shit. 🤬😡😭
i love this post from @foodandfearless
and the caption below. privilege affects us in so many ways it's easy to miss ones like this one:
the intention of this post is not to shame, but rather to offer some perspective on a sensitive, but important topic.
working with clients from all different socioeconomic (ses) backgrounds, one of the things that i've noticed is that nutrition concerns often fall within similar themes, but in very different contexts.
it has really opened my eyes to see that not only is nutrition a privilege, but also: dieting is a privilege.
voluntarily removing various foods from one's diet in the pursuit of "good nutrition" is only possible if one has access to a variety of foods to begin with. and if that's the case, are we really pursuing "good nutrition"?
*will also note that there is a trickle-down effect here. the concerns of those in higher ses often become concerns to those in lower ses, which just adds more barriers & complexities to receiving nourishment.
shared are real quotes from wonderful people with whom i’ve interacted with over the past few years.
some food for thought; hoping that this gets your gears turning as much as it has mine! #foodandfearless #wellnessjourney #wellness #nutrition
