This often crosses my mind, that people feel the way that you do. i’ve been nothing but a promoter of my/black history, in ballet, diversifying it and bringing it to a broader audience. i’ve been putting in the work, by me mentoring and being mentored by our black sisters, for over two decades. i know that it’s natural and easy to see my success as immediate and one sided. my mission and purpose is and will always be, to be a vessel, and to use my voice, reach and platform, to educate and share our history. i never dreamt, imagined or wanted this outcome for me. but all i can do is use it to voice my experiences and those of others who have shared there’s with me. i’m proud of my history and i stand on their shoulders. i’m blessed and grateful every day to have the opportunities that i do. i have a one black woman team behind me. no machine. and we’ve built this on our own. and i’m so so very proud of that. though i understand that it may seem like the opposite from the outside. but i was given that push in the beginning and still do, from the black media. who will always be at the forefront of every project i’m a part of, no matter how big or small. because of the respect, heart and dedication of my incredible one woman goddess @gnsquire
