“chilly” peppers ❄️🌶 . . . chili peppers in ice #whpsquares . . . and a belated thank you for all the kind words on my last post here and on the @instagram page. i read them all and they made my day. thank you! 😁
Cicada wing series🧚🏼♂️ : we reached into our nature box collection for inspiration for the whp this week. amongst our turtle shells, snake skins and bird nests we found these cicada wings to use. i lightly glued them onto a pane of glass and held it up in front of my camera as i photographed my daughter. it reminds me of summer. i can hear their “singing” as i type. #whpscale
🍄 mycology is the study of mushrooms (or fungi). sometimes the best way to study is to walk right outside your front door. it’s been so rainy this month we have had a plethora of mushrooms to study. #whpstudy
Fun photography experiments . . .
pixel - the smallest unit of a digital image. short for “picture element”. normally not seen by the n***d eye. to photograph pixels i placed a few drops of water on my ipad screen. the water drops form a convex lens and magnify the screen behind it. i then photographed the water drops on the ipad with my iphone and attached mobile photography macro lens.
A tad late, but here is a collection of abstract-ish 4th of july fireworks. the ones with the bokeh layered in is where i held up a magnifying glass in front of my camera lens - it added an interesting effect.
While eggs can be quite fragile their dome shape also makes them quite strong. i repeated this experiment from several years ago for a photography project on science to show the relationship between shape and strength. and just like from 2 years ago all three of my kids were able to stand on the eggs without breaking them!
